TEXTILES of the MIND

it seems to me that the japanese mind likes to drift towards nature, maybe using it as a peaceful resort. i like that idea. yoshiki hishinuma seems to like it too. at the moment he is giving a 3 day masterclass at the Dutch Textile Museum in Tilburg. As part of that he gave a lecture about his work.
Very interesting since he draws a lot of his inspiration from nature, plants and animals. Working with machines and sometimes many engineers he is busy exploring new possibilities in creating 3D textiles. Amazing to see and amazing to touch and feel. Hard to believe that some of these things are even possible to make.
He has made work for films, theater (Paris Opera and NDT - Netherlands Dance Theater located in The Hague) and lately, many installations, since he got tired of fashion shows.
